Hi, Colleen,

The most popular plugin for threaded comments is Disqus. You can find it on the WordPress Plugins page at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/disqus-comment-system/

Hope this helps!

What plugin do you recommend for comments. I did a search for "thesis theme wp thread comment plugin" and this post came up near the top.

I'm not quite up with my thesis site yet, but I wanted to know if you know of a plugin that will email a person when they reply to a threaded comment (for example, if you reply to this comment here, it will also email me the response in addition to putting it here). Apparently, WP Thread Comments works with Thesis 1.6, but not 1.7?

Robin, sorry for the late reply.

On the WPDBManager backup program, you have to:
1. Go to the plugins folder, then the WPDBManager folder. Find a file named htaccess.txt
2. Move it to the folder named backup-db in your wp-content folder.
3. Rename htaccess.txt .htaccess (that's dot-htaccess).
That ought to solve the problem!

If you mean the Subscribe to Comments plugin, you won't see a checkbox for it as long as you are logged in as an admin. You will see the sentence "You are the author of this entry" which tells you it's running.

I'm not sure what you mean by "where do they go." If you mean where do they go on your site, they should be put into the /wp-content/plugins folder. If you mean "what do you do with them" it varies with each one. Some, like CyStats, you don't have to do anything with them -- just look for the menu item on the left of your Admin screen. Others like cforms, you have to write a contact page for them to work for you.

Hang in there! I'm an old dog -- 62 -- and I learn new tricks every day!
