I believe you have to use conditional tags “is_home()” (http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags)

If you are using Thesis, there are lots of actual examples in the support forum (you need to first log in)

Thanks so much for the code. It works awesome. Just one quick question though.

I am using the gallery in the main body (not as a widget) and the gallery is showing on all my pages.

Is there anyway to limit the gallery viewing only to my main home page?

Mike! This plugin is absolutely amazing! I’m a complete newbie but I was able to get it all set up following your detailed instructions. I really do appreciate it – it’s going to make my blog so beautiful! I just have a couple of questions for you because there are just a couple hiccups here.

First of all, you mentioned that if the image files are too large, there will be “stuttering or hesitation as they move into the image box” and I suspect that’s exactly what’s happening here:

(For my friend, it loads immediately. For me, I have to give it a couple of minutes and it will load beautifully but in the meantime it’s just a box with a up-down scroll.) Can you recommend a size to bump these down to? Right now those four images are each anywhere from 123-209 KB. I want to keep the quality as high as possible because this is a food blog and if it isn’t gorgeous, nobody will stick around!

Secondly, I am curious as to how exactly to place these galleries where I want. Right now I’ve placed all this code with the image urls and file names etc directly into the custom_functions.php editor which is why if you click around the site you’ll see that same gallery at the top of every page and post! You have in the code:

/*ADD THIS FUNCTION TO ANY HOOK WHERE YOU WANT IT TO APPEAR */

As a newbie, I don’t actually know what that means, don’t laugh! How do I get this particular gallery in one particular area of one particular page? Then where do I go about creating my next gallery and the next etc? I hope that’s clear enough!

Finally… (sorry!) I was wondering if it’s possible to stop the function of the gallery looping to the beginning after showing the last image. Ideally, I want a discrete series where there is a defined first (leftmost) and last (rightmost) image. Is that possible? And would I be able to have no left arrow showing for the first image and no right arrow showing for the last?

I know these are a zillion questions at once… I’m just so excited to get this up and running! Thanks so, so, so much again Mike, you’re amazing!!

Do I install the files and folders or install the .zip as I would a normal plug with the “Add New” button?

Hi Mike,
This is so great. I spent 2 days messing with NextGen and gave up. This is exactly what I needed. You are a lifesaver!

Only one tiny wish. Is there a way to adjust the css to give a little indent (that would be padding, right?) to the caption text? It’s probably obvious, but I’m a newbie. Thanks so much!

I’ve been looking for something like this for a while, but I have one continuing need. Is it possible to select images to be used from those in the WP Media Gallery (or a subfolder within), perhaps in a checkbox-type interface similar to the one that Thesis uses to identify which pages go on the nav menu? This would make it possible for non-coders to add images without having to FTP images or use code in anyway.

Hi Mike,
Your plugin is just the best thing around!

But I’m having trouble with IE. Everything looks fine in Firefox but with IE the images cut-off the bottom and sides and looks pixelated/low res.

Could you advise how to fix?

Ok, I now have viewed my site again and the sample gallery is at the top of my post. How did it get there? Will this same gallery be on the top of every post automatically?

Ok, I have followed all the instructions, and I am sure it is all installed, now what? How do I use it, I am missing something. How do I add it to my post? can I use a different gallery in every post?
