Hi, Jeff! Thank you for the comment.

There are many arcane things about WordPress, and widget names is one of them. Even with the right names to address them, some widgets resist all efforts at getting at their innards. I find it very frustrating when a widget I really need will not let me change its appearance in any way. Sometimes they have classes or id's that you can work with in custom.css, but you can only find out about them in the source code. Most of the resistant widgets are "black boxes," however, and I just try to find an equivalent plugin that will cooperate.

Mike,
Great tip, thanks for sharing! This would have saved me a lot of trouble a few months back. I'll have to keep this in mind for future projects.

Take care,
Jeff

Thank you, Bill! I'm glad it's helped you!

It's amazing to me how many little things like finding out widget names are so obscure and difficult to discover. I happened on the widget naming by chance while inspecting a site's source code for something else. It's allowed me to hack my widgets' properties, particularly on <a href="http://anxietypanichealth.com/" rel="nofollow">Anxiety, Panic & Health</a>.
